library deliquent

on the back of my sister’s bedroom door there was a picture of a big red set of lips and then half of a big red set of lips. my parents were called into school and this

was supposed to help her

remain quiet in class

enigin scam

adultery

theft

lying

cheating

stealing

swearing

recovering from alcohol abuse

the things they try to teach the young when they don’t make sense and are out of context

we watched the big blue marble and you could get a pen pal from some place far away

I tried but was bad at writing letters, should my mother have made me draw a post box and put it on my wall

I am a library delinquent

do you think they will find my on the internet and the public library will know that in its records from 1986 they have a book missing

it is the bread givers by anzia yezerska

I have some bits missing I suppose

from my moral code

otherwise I would make it to the post office more often and I wouldn’t have library fines that I am still paying off

there was a man sitting in the children’s section of the library and one waiting for the lift that only mothers with prams take

I have lived in the city my whole life and I don’t like to get in lifts with creepy looking strangers when it is only me, it is only me it is only me

am I intelligent

or paranoid

I used to say that for every bicycle that I have had stolen there is an angel looking out for me and trying to prevent an accident

this is a positive way to look at loss and I was hoping that it would stick with me through life

so I don’t

become

sad

bitter

twisted

and just remain somebody bad at returning books
