Here’s a song I wrote when going through a painful break up where I had to sell my home with my ex girlfriend. The only thing she let me keep was the coffee machine!

It’s sad but I hope you enjoy it nevertheless. It may ring true with some of you:

They Never Said

I used to believe in what they all say, that true love would bring somebody my way.

And so it did seem when I first met you - that someone I’d found and my dreams had come true.

How could I have known in time the dream would come to pass?

How true then that love is blind and sometimes never lasts–

They never said that a love so strong

Goes to your head and can go so wrong

Love let me down, and miss led my heart

And then my dream was torn apart–

So I never thought that there’d come a day

After giving your love you’d then take it away

But you must have known before I could see

That your feelings had changed, and it wasn’t to be

How cruelly you slowly chose to turn your back away

And let me down gently so you wouldn’t have to say–

That you don’t feel love like you did back then

Now you’ve had enough

And we’ll never mend this broken dream

So now then I know that love is never what it seems–

If this is what loves supposed to be I couldn’t say when

If ever at all that I will love someone again–

So yes I found love, but it didn’t stay

It played with my heart and then took her away

And since then I’ve learnt you can never be sure

That people won’t change and not love anymore

Why didn’t I know in time the dream would come to pass?
